Kilombo Villas, a luxury hotel located on one of the most preserved beaches in the Brazilian Northeast, in Sibaúma – Tibau do Sul (RN), has just achieved international recognition of great relevance. The project“Sacred Leaves”, designed by the Daniel Florez studio, was nominated for the Créateurs Design Awards 2025, in the Excellence in Landscape Architecture category, ranking among some of the most important projects in architecture and design in the world.
The appointment recognizes the change that began in 2024 at Kilombo Villas Hotel, which is undergoing a repositioning based on sustainability, architectural innovation and connection with nature.
This sensitive and committed approach has just receivedinternational recognition by the Créateurs Design Awards, one of the most respected global awards focused on architecture, design and interiors. Voted exclusively by a select group of creative leaders and members of the international press, the award highlights work that preserves the integrity of design and drives relevant visions for the future of architecture. For Kilombo Villas, this recognition does not represent a point of arrival, but the validation of something that is part of its daily life, its reason for existing and the way it chooses to preserve what is sacred in its paradise.
Sustainable architecture that dialogues with nature, art and environmental awareness
The first architectural movement,Sacred Leaves, is a poetic pavilion formed by three large structural sheets created in glued laminated wood and bamboo, with a polycarbonate roof.
During the day, the pavilion guarantees refreshing shade, thermal comfort and natural ventilation, creating a spectacle of lights and shadows that move according to the sun, wind and clouds in perfect harmony with the local ecosystem.
At night, warm lighting reveals the threesacred leaves, visible from the hotel's villas, transforming the accommodation experience into an invitation to contemplation, connection with nature and environmental education. The lamps are produced with recycled bamboo and copper, symbolizing time, memory and ancestry.

Kilombo Villas Carbono Zero: sustainability as an essential pillar
The second intervention, called “The Scissors”, consolidates Kilombo Villas as one of the rare examples of a Carbon Zero hotel in Brazil.
The structure, formed by the repetition of sculptural wooden elements, supports 400m² of solar panels, responsible for generating around 130,000 kWh annually, energy 30% higher than the hotel's total consumption.
In addition to clean energy, the project reorganized circulation, reception, parking, vegetable garden and logistics areas, bringing more efficiency, integration and sustainability to the entire hotel operation.
Natural materials, positive impact and circular economy
All project structures use natural materials from the region, such as wood, bamboo, stone, piassava and palm trees, reducing environmental impact, strengthening local labor and promoting circular economy. The projects are removable, transportable and recyclable, reinforcing Kilombo Villas' commitment to environmental innovation, social responsibility and conscious tourism.
An appointment that puts Brazil on the world map of design and architecture
Being among those nominated for the Créateurs Design Awards 2025 positions Kilombo Villas Hotel and its projectSacred Leavesalongside global references in contemporary design, in an international award recognized for celebrating creative excellence, innovation and cultural impact.
"The appointment reaffirms our vision of tourism that preserves, inspires and transforms. Kilombo is more than a hotel: it is an experience of consciousness and beauty. We wanted to create architecture that educates, excites and protects the world in which we operate", concludes Eduardo Gilles, partner at Kilombo Villas.
